Amazon.com Inc's Japanese unit raised the membership fee for its Prime service by 26 percent on Friday, the first such hike since it was launched in the country 11 years ago.
The new annual Prime membership fee is 4,900 yen versus 3,900 yen previously. Users didn't have time to purchase the service before the price hike. It has been said that the price of Prime services in Japan is cheaper than the USA. Prime members can use free delivery, price discounts and free video services. If users use lots of services, it is convenient, but most users use only free delivery services and forget to cancel their membership. Many customers join Amazon Prime because they can use it the1st month for free, and they forget to terminate it. About these online services, the monthly fee is sometimes cheap, but the annual fee isn't cheap. There are lots of online services, for example, professional baseball game streaming services, sports streaming channels, etc. but most of the time people use it for a limited period. While they use these services constantly, the monthly fee is meaningful, but once they register it, they continue to have an account. I think most of the membership people don't use these services as ghost members.
